Officially: Microsoft Build 2021 will be held May 25-27

The annual Microsoft Build 2021 Developer Conference will return to an online event at the end of May.

There have been several leaks of possible dates for the Build conference over the past two weeks. But now Microsoft has officially confirmed that the Microsoft Build 2021 developer conference will be held in virtual format from May 25-27.

Microsoft has posted information about Build 2021 on its official scheduled events page. At the same time, on a separate page dedicated to Build, the information has not yet been updated. In addition, the company has not yet announced when registration for the event will start.

This year, Microsoft has decided to complement its flagship conferences with small virtual “What's Next” events. In particular, a What's Next for Gaming event is expected in the coming weeks.

It is possible that the anticipated What's Next for Windows event could actually be Build 2021. Alternatively, it could be a separate virtual event that will take place before the developer conference.

In 2021, Microsoft officials decided to host some of the major announcements of Microsoft products in the form of separate virtual events. For example, at What's Next for Industry in February, Microsoft unveiled several of its cloud-based enterprise products. Microsoft Ignite 2021 followed the "What's Next for Cloud" theme. Also, this year is planned an event dedicated to security - "What's Next for Security".

Microsoft executives are trying to revitalize Windows this year after focusing on the corporate sector for several years. It is likely that Microsoft Build 2021 will be remembered for its innovations for Windows 10X, Windows 10, version 21H2 and other operating systems, although in previous years this conference mainly talked about Office, Azure, Power Platform and IoT.
