Forced installation pulls: Microsoft pushes Windows 10 20H2 significantly

The analysis of user numbers shows a clear picture: Various measures by Microsoft bring Windows 10 20H2 to a rapid increase in March after a hesitant start. And there are more shifts in Windows 10.

For version, 20H2 things are now moving faster after a slow start

Microsoft is very interested in getting as many users as possible to update to the latest Windows version. Among other things, computers with Windows versions that are nearing the end of support have been automatically updated since the beginning of the month - even if these forced updates keep causing discussions. The latest monthly figures from AdDuplex show that Microsoft will probably see this measure as a success.

While the proportion of systems with version 20H2 was still 20 percent in February, this skyrocketed to 29.9 percent in March - an increase of around 50 percent compared to the previous month. Windows 10 Version 20H2 climbs to number two of the most used Windows versions. Even if Microsoft is taking a big step here, the other figures show that there is still a lot of work to be done.

Because at the top of the Windows 10 versions is still the previous release 2004 - this can increase slightly by 0.3 percent in March and climbed to 42.1 percent. All of these successes are based on the rapid decline of the 1909 version, which fell from 26.8 percent in February to 18.4 percent now. For Microsoft, however, it is high time to push the updates forward: The end of support for the November 2019 update is due for May.

The old game

In a version comparison, Windows 10 2004 had the fastest start, but overall Microsoft with Windows 10 20H2 is at a similar level to version 1909 a year ago. It will be interesting to see how the proportions between the versions developed in April.
