Briefly informed: WinRAR has been updated to version 6.0.1 and thus receives the first update since the release of version 6 in December 2020. There are a few new functions and bugs that have also been fixed.
- The keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A selects the entire text in the WinRAR comment window.
- If the -idn switch is used together with the -t or -df switch when archiving with the console version of RAR, all messages such as “Delete "Or" Test “Which are normally output at these switches are suppressed.
- The -idn switch now also suppresses all messages for creating directories when extracting a file into a directory that does not exist.
- WinRAR and the ZIP-SFX module do not unpack the contents of ZIP-SFX archives if the central directory of the ZIP file is located after the beginning of the digital Authenticode signature. This change in the behavior when unpacking prevents possible attacks in which a ZIP archive is embedded in the group of the signature.
Fixed issues:
- The "Convert Archives" command could incorrectly convert Unicode comments in RAR archives.
- If two archive information windows were opened from the Explorer context menu, the bar for the compression ratio in the first window could incorrectly display a value for the second archive.
- The ratio and other text information on the right side of the window were not affected. Only the vertical bar on the left could be updated to an incorrect value
- If the option “Wait if other WinRAR copies are active” was activated in the unpacking dialog, the title “Waiting for another WinRAR copy” was not displayed in the command's progress window while waiting
- Extracting a symbolic link in previous versions did not overwrite non-existing symbolic links, even if the user specified this in the overwrite prompt.
