FRITZ! Box 5530 Fiber gets FRITZ! OS 7.26 as a maintenance update

AVM has released an important new update for the fiber optic FritzBox 5530 Fiber. This improves the interoperability with different GPON remote stations - if you have problems with your connections, you should update quickly.

Briefly informed: The FRITZ! Box 5530 Fiber had already received FRITZ! OS 7.25 at the end of March. A maintenance update for the FRITZ! OS 7.26 has now been submitted. An improvement has been made:

The internet specialist AVM started the new feature update to version FritzOS 7.25 for the AVM FritzBox 5530 Fiber, which is suitable for fiber optic connections, at the end of March. Now the update to version FritzOS 7.26 follows. According to the manufacturer, this is a pure maintenance update, which does not bring any new functions with it and does not close any special security gaps. But it is still important, because with the new version AVM is starting improved interoperability with different GPON remote stations. Unfortunately, details have not yet been given in the release notes for the update.

Use online update

The update can be initiated using the online update function. To do this, the user interface of the device is called up in the Internet browser under "fritz.box". If necessary, you must then log in with your user name and password. Under "Assistants" you will then find the item "Update" or "Update firmware". The new version is recommended to all owners of a FritzBox 5530, as AVM also revises security functions and sends out bug fixes with each new FritzOS update.

The update is installed automatically or can be downloaded manually from the AVM website. We have of course adapted our update overview for the individual AVM devices.
