Will 'Harry Potter' have a sequel on the big screen?

Warner Bros. is preparing to expand the Wizarding World universe. A sequel to 'Harry Potter' could be considered.

Harry Potter is one of the most successful franchises in entertainment history. The books, movies, and video games of the Wizarding World continue to triumph today. However, it is also true that it already attracts all the reflectors as it did a few years ago. It was for this reason that Warner recently appointed Tom Ascheim as the head of Harry Potter. Your goal will be to expand the universe with various content.

In January we told you that, according to information from The Hollywood Reporter, Warner is preparing a Harry Potter series for HBO Max. And what about movies? Does the Magic World have a future in cinema beyond Fantastic Animals? Many fans have wondered if the famous magician could get a second chance on the big screen. We are referring, of course, to a hypothetical sequel.

Recently, Jason Kilar, CEO of WarnerMedia, held a conference with investors to discuss the current state of the company. Among the various topics discussed, the manager took advantage of the space to recognize the potential of the Wizarding World: “There is something called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises. And we're incredibly grateful to be able to partner with JK Rowling, so I'd say there's a lot of fun and potential there too. "

In the absence of an official confirmation, Kilar's statements have reinforced the rumors about new productions of the Magic World. The CEO of WarnerMedia did not elaborate on specific details, but it is clear that they are preparing something related to Harry Potter. The first option, which I already mentioned above, is for it to be the live-action HBO Max series. However, The Hollywood Reporter brings to the table another rumor that has circulated for several years: a sequel based on Harry Potter and the Cursed Legacy.

The story that started as a play

The cursed legacy took its first steps as a play in London from 2016. However, it is currently possible to find the adaptation to a novel. The story is set 19 years after the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and tells us a new adventure that involves not only Harry Potter, also the three children he had with Ginny Weasley. Obviously, the presence of his old friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, is not lacking.

We don't know exactly what Warner's plans are with the hit franchise, but Harry Potter and the Cursed Legacy could well be the producer's ace up the sleeve. After all, it is a story that J. K. herself. Rowling devised to further expand the magician's narrative. The agreement between the British author and Warner Bros. remains in force and both parties intend to get the most out of it. We cannot rule out anything.

If a Harry Potter and the Cursed Childhood film got the green light, would we see the original actors in their adult roles? Rupert Grint, the actor who plays Ron Weasley, spoke on the subject in an interview with Radio Times: “ It would be strange if it were a kind of continuation. Strangely I feel very protective of that character. Even when I saw the works, it was a very strange experience. If it's a different group of friends, I suppose it would be interesting. ' And about enjoying the films in which he participated again:

"I think the first ones are fine. More time has passed. I can separate a little more from that boy. I watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone not long ago, for the first time since the premiere, and I really enjoyed looking back. But with the latest movies, I definitely couldn't."
