'The Walking Dead' 10 × 17: the expected return of Maggie and a new enemy

The Walking Dead returns to the small screen with the extended part of its season 10. The episode, entitled "Home sweet home" (10 × 17), was broadcast and here we review what we thought, as well as its most relevant aspects. this means that this review is full of spoilers.

Maggie's announced the return

We have long known that Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan, would return to The Walking Dead. The AMC series has undergone many changes and movements in its cast over the course of its seasons. It should be noted that now this episode a new arc was introduced that does not belong to the history of comics, Robert Kirkman. So in "Home Sweet Home" can see what happened after the close of the previous stage season 10. Recall that in that chapter she arrived just in time to save Gabriel and the depleted community of survivors after the bloody confrontation with the Whisperers. She did not arrive alone and in the recent episode, we were able to find out who is with her: Elijah and Cole.

At the beginning of the chapter happens worst fears: the encounter with Negan Maggie. This happens and you feel the tension between the two. Negan, talkative as always, tells Maggie that he did not escape. But she keeps going as we see in Negan a kind of remorse? Shame? Who would have guessed Judith, who was talking (and killing walkers) with Maggie, just looks at those two adults who do not fit in the same space.

Painful memories

Maggie intended to go to the Hilltop since, of course, she did not know what had happened. When they see the ruins, Carol tells Maggie that Negan helped take down Alpha. Maggie is not displayed as. We still know little about what happened to Maggie. In fact, at one point when she talks to Daryl, she tells him that she is not ready to talk about what happened to her people. Nonetheless, the subject of Glenn's death came up. The little boy wanted to know if the man who killed his father had been punished and she did not know what to say. Daryl tells Maggie that has not made a final decision on Negan.

The group of Maggie and Daryl, in addition to Kelly who takes advantage of the exploration to search for Connie, wants to meet another group that is with Maggie. However, they soon realize that they have been attacked. The scene they find is painful. Maggie desperately searches for little Hershel and they find some survivors, although this does not last long because someone is killing them in a cold way.

At a time when Elijah Kelly and fail to establish a link, because both share the painful fact of having lost their brothers. When Elijah realizes that they are in front of the Reapers, he is somewhat fearful, but Kelly insists that they will go through this together. He also asks him to remove his mask and he does so, bringing down many theories around this character that was introduced in The Walking Dead. In the opinion, the use of the mask is not to hide a scar or something, but maybe not to reveal their emotions.

A new enemy in 'The Walking Dead'

The discovery of two charred bodies hinted to Maggie and her companions that they are fighting the Reapers. A group that is characterized by killing in cold blood and looting groups and communities, as they explain it themselves since they do not belong to the history of The Walking Dead comics. Actually, this is the reason why Maggie returns home because this group has declined entire communities and is running away from them.

Daryl and Maggie manage to confront a fearsome and enigmatic character. The man puts them in trouble but they end up cornering him. His appearance is peculiar: he is dressed in camouflage clothing and his military training is evident. When Maggie questions him, the man just laughs and says "Daddy marked you"; and shows them the safety of a hand grenade that he just activated in his pocket. The cryptic message that lets you, Maggie, is certainly a prelude to the confrontation that surely we will see in the coming weeks.

Towards the end of the chapter, we were able to meet Hershel. Maggie and Daryl find him high up in a tree. Shortly after we see him holding his mother's hand entering the Hilltop, hinting that it is his new home. Even if Glenn's killer is among the settlers already doing the rebuilding work. Negan himself sees them enter and continues with that attitude of regret? Worrying so Maggie could influence among the settlers on their final destination? So, next week will see the episode Find Me, 10 × 18 The Walking Dead.
