MSI RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 Suprim receives two new slower models

MSI presented the Suprim series graphics cards in which the RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 models stood out. The well-known Taiwanese brand is now expanding this series with two new models: RTX 3070 Suprim SE 8G and RTX 3080 Suprim SE 10G.

MSI has decided to add the SE nomenclature, but this name does not mean that it is a model with superior performance, on the contrary, they are slower, so the SE name could be related to 'Slow Edition'.

The difference between these and traditional models would be reduced in clock speeds. The RTX 3080 Suprim SE 10G only comes with a 5% less boost, although it could be compensated with a manual OC to match the Suprim X. The TDP of this model remains at a TDP of 370W.

The RTX 3070 Suprim SE 8G, meanwhile, shows a 7% decrease in clock speeds over the Suprim X model, and also has a lower 40W TDP. MSI reduced power consumption by 14%.

At the aesthetic level, there would be no difference, same cover and cooling, power connectors and screen outputs. If they were put side by side, they could not be differentiated except for the box.

There is a possibility that MSI wants to get rid of the inventory of chips that did not pass the tests for the Suprim X models, a strategy that seems to be very common in the segment.

The RTX 3080 Suprim X 10G and the RTX 3070 Suprim X 8G officially sell for $ 900 and $ 660, respectively. We expect the SE models to be a bit cheaper. We will keep you informed.
