Microsoft Edge 90.0.818.0 in the dev channel with some new features

Microsoft yesterday updated Microsoft Edge in the dev channel to the new version 90.0.818.0. It is considered the final dev version that will then be pushed into beta.

An important change is that you can now sort the collections. The launch acceleration rollout has now also been completed. But remember, if the start acceleration (which is equivalent to the autostart) is activated, a link with an addition, is not possible.

Other new functions

  • The ability to drag and drop downloaded files from the list in the “Downloads” pop-up to websites or folders has been added.
  • Added the ability for users to manually browse their autofill data by pressing the / key.
  • An option has been added to the Disabled Extensions in Developer Mode popup to hide it. Note that this popup only appears in Beta and Stable.
  • The new Downloads pop-up menu rollout has completed.

Fixed issues

  • Fixed an issue where Edge may not work the first time it is opened after an update, but closing and reopening it fixes the issue
  • Fixed an issue where using an extension with a popup menu in a PWA or a webpage installed as an app would crash the browser.
  • Fixed an issue that occurred when uninstalling a PWA or a website installed as an app.
  • Fixed a crash when opening the web widget.
  • Fixed an issue where interacting with the Web Widget when the browser is using a guest session sometimes crashes.
  • Fixed an issue where some web pages would crash while loading.
  • Fixed an issue where some videos would appear black but the audio would play correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where images were not displaying correctly on certain web pages.
  • Other issues fixed: techcommunity

Known problems

  • Users of certain VMWare software may experience an issue where Edge will no longer open. community.carbonblack.com
  • Otherwise, nothing has changed here compared to the previous versions
  • Certain extensions, such as B. the Microsoft Editor extension do not work on Linux. Once installed, they will crash and be disabled. We are currently investigating this.
  • Users of certain ad blocker extensions may experience playback errors on Youtube. As a workaround, temporarily disabling the extension should allow playback.
  • Some users still experience an issue where all tabs and extensions immediately crash with a STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH error. The most common cause of this error is out of date security or antivirus software
  • For users of Kaspersky Internet Suite who have installed the associated extension, websites such as Gmail may sometimes not load. This error occurs because the main Kaspersky software is out of date
  • The deduplication in the Edge Stable should always be given a little more time. Otherwise, favorites are displayed twice.
  • Some users see a "wobble" when scrolling with trackpad gestures or touchscreens, with scrolling in one dimension also causing the page to scroll slightly back and forth in the other dimension. This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring the scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy's behavior. So if this behavior is undesirable, you can turn it off temporarily by turning off the edge: // flags / # edge-experimental-scrolling flag.
