Gigabyte's first NVIDIA CMP 30HX Crypto Mining Processor Dedicated for Intensive Cryptocurrency Creation Calculations

Nvidia's first CMP HX series card is introduced. Signed Gigabyte, this CMP 30HX solution targets the “mining” market.

We find a card with a design similar to a graphics card for gamers. The big difference is the lack of video output. There is nothing surprising knowing that this Gigabyte CMP 30HX is dedicated to intensive cryptocurrency creation calculations. Mechanical SSa is based on a TU116-100 GPU supported by 6 GB of GDDR6.

NVIDIA CMP graphics cards are its flagship product to try to offer a solution dedicated to the massive cryptocurrency mining market. With these graphics cards without video output, the company intends to stop the drain on its GeForce stock, and that finally, it is gamers who buy them again instead of miners. Let's see the first photos of these graphics, specifically Gigabyte.

This is the first NVIDIA CMP (Crypto Mining Processor) 30HX from Gigabyte

This family of graphics cards will be sold entirely by the assemblers, and not by NVIDIA itself. Therefore, we will have 'only' custom models from all manufacturers.

There are still uncertainties regarding its equipment with 1408 or 1280 Cuda cores. On the other hand, we know that the beautiful is accompanied by a TDP of 125 Watts and delivers a power of 26 MH / s in the mining operation of Ehtereum. We are on a similar result to that of the GeForce RTX 3060 without its Anti-Crypto protection.

In the photographs, revealed to the public by Videocardz, we see the Gigabyte CMP 30HX, corresponding to the NVIDIA CMP 30HX, which will be the lowest-end model in this family. With a TU116-100 chip and 6GB of GDDR6 memory, we know that it will be a graphics equivalent to the GTX 1660 or 1660 SUPER. Obviously, it cannot be given any gaming use, since it completely lacks video outputs. In this way, NVIDIA wants to clearly separate miners from gamers in terms of the graphics cards they buy and sell.

These 30HX will have a TGP of 125 watts, for which they will be able to offer performance in Ethereum of 26MH / s. This rate is similar to what the RTX 3060 gets with its mining limiter activated, so it is not exactly a spectacular performance. The price will be the key factor in such a graph, and it is clear that as it exceeds 300 euros, it is most likely that miners will continue to be interested in GeForce options.

Hopefully the NVIDIA CMPs have a good balance of price, stock, performance and consumptions for miners to stay away from GeForce and AMD RX, but the demand seems almost endless.

Let's see the rest of the NVIDIA CMP series graphics cards to come, their performance and technical specifications.

The first models have a relatively limited MH / s rate, as they are equivalent to what is expected with an RX 580, with the CMP 30HX more similar to a GTX 1060/1070 and the 40HX to 2060/2070. The “party” will come with the Vega 64 / 2080S performance from the 50HX and the RTX 3080 from the 90HX. (Guide values).

Videocardz has also reported that the first two models, 30HX and 40HX, are already in mass production, while the Ampere-based 90HX will arrive in May. We still don't know anything about the intermediate 50HX.

The launch of the first CMPs will be critical to see how the graphics card market progresses, taking into account that for now mining is still more than active, and it has even been shown how not so much is dependent on Ethereum to obtain good cost-effectiveness. Do you think the miners will switch to the CMP, easing the market, or will we continue exactly the same? Leave us your comments!

Gigabyte CMP 30HX, no video output

The lack of video output is on the other hand a shame because this solution will not be able to find a second life in the gaming market. It is currently difficult to know if this approach from Nvidia will find its place. One of the parameters will be price positioning. Currently, this market finds its material from Nvidia's partners who have no difficulty in selling their gaming graphics cards with higher margins. Note that these new features allow Gigabyte to announce its second generation of mining solutions. The manufacturer offers the P106-100 and P104-100 series.

Nvidia does not go into details regarding the specifications of these new CMP HX cards. However, it seems that they are not only based on the Ampere architecture. Turing is also in the game. The offer is organized around four references with 30HX, 40 HX, 50 HX, and 90HX.
