WandaVision: This is how the commercials may look like

One of the characteristics of WandaVision is the homage to the television comedy series, with a humor characteristic of auditorium programs from the 1950s to the 1970s. In the first three episodes, fans were able to check out some commercials about home products, bringing references to events and other characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, as much as these short advertisements were designed to bring humor to the series, there is a dark aspect behind them. According to a theory created after the showing of the third episode, these commercials may reflect Wanda's pain and tragic past.

The small town of Westview is, in fact, an alternative universe to manifest Wanda's pain, serving as a source of escapism for his traumas and losses. While her husband and children bring lightness to the plot, the commercials add a touch of mystery to the story.

In the first episode, Toast Mate 2000 is a product of Stark Industries, with only a red light highlighted on the monochrome screen and a slogan that suggests "Forget the past, this is your future", which may well be related to the story of Wanda with Tony Stark. It is worth remembering that he was initially a kind of enemy of the Scarlet Witch since his bombs were dropped on Sokovia, killing his family. She saw him as a terrorist, responsible for all his pain and agony; even after being transformed into an Avenger, her relationship with Tony was never the best.

In Captain America: Civil War, Stark tries to confine Wanda, using Vision to take care of her. This, unfortunately, ended up creating a crack in the Avengers, making it easier for Thanos to obtain the Infinity Stones.

Tony's controlling demeanor still made it difficult in Wanda's life, and although she wants to forget all of that and focus on her future as a hero, her mind is still looking irrationally at the culprit.

In the second episode, the commercial in question was for the Strucker wristwatch, this time with a much clearer easter egg: the Hydra logo in the middle and the ticking tick increasing rapidly as the announcer reads the slogan, "Strucker: It will make time for you ". Baron von Strucker was the man who experimented with her and Pietro Maximoff, and although thanks to him the brothers are very powerful, he still treated them like laboratory mice.

This commercial is much darker than the previous one and gives the impression that Wanda is in conflict, especially over whether Hydra was a good or bad phase in his life.

The third episode features the commercial for Hydra Soak, a bath powder that aims to "help you relax". The slogan for this product is much clearer and tells the consumer that it allows him to "escape to a world of his own", coincidentally what is happening to Wanda, as if this were his only way out.

It is worth mentioning that these television commercials are a way of portraying Wanda's mental health and all this process that the character is using to escape her pain and reality. It is also important to note that WandaVision, so far, is faithfully following a leak from months ago, which revealed that the series not only addresses the mental health of the Scarlet Witch but will also make her the antagonist of the upcoming MCU films.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Randall Park, Kat Dennings, Teyonah Parris, and Kathryn Hahn. Every Friday, an unprecedented episode is available on Disney +.
