NVIDIA DLSS Arrives for Professionals and New Studio Laptops Launch

NVIDIA DLSS was not enabled in applications such as Autodesk Arnold or Redshift, but new Studio Ready drivers have been released to enable it and for professionals to benefit from its performance. For now, laptops with RTX 30 and desktop RTX 3060 will benefit.

Everyone knows NVIDIA DLSS, a rendering technology that makes use of AI and Deep Learning in order to gain FPS in video games. It was a star technology to make Ray Tracing viable, but it seems that it will expand to the professional field. So much so, that the first renderers to receive DLSS support will be Blender, V-Ray, Redshift and Autodesk Arnold. So creators can enjoy it with NVIDIA Studio Ready.

NVIDIA Studio Ready enables DLSS in rendering programs

What GPUs Benefit From The New Studio Ready Drivers? Mainly, the RTX 3000 Mobile and the RTX 3060 graphics cards. On the other hand, the programs that benefit from this update are:

  • Blender. DLSS is enabled to accelerate by NanoVBD GPU in Blender Cycles 2.92. this means that there will be more interactivity when rendering smoke, fire, clouds, dust or any analogous volume.
  • V-Ray. Now, GPU-accelerated light cache can be used, which speeds up the whole process. Additionally, creators will be able to render with tyFlow with the added speed of V-Ray.
  • Redshift. NVIDIA RTX Ray Tracing is added, which gets full support with OptiX 7.2. Additionally, OSL shader support allows users to write their own shaders or use those from the community. NVIDIA has added NVLINK support, which is the bridge that NVIDIA uses to use 2 GPUs.
  • Autodesk Arnold. We have a new option called  Tile Rendering, which serves to speed up the rendering process when we have a GPU with limited VRAM.

Since the beginning of NVIDIA DLSS, we only saw it in video games and from a resolution of 1440p. However, NVIDIA Studio Ready enables DLSS version 2.0, which allows 1080p resolutions to take advantage of its performance gains. On the other hand, say that DLSS 2.0 is available with the Unreal Engine graphics engine as a plugin, compatible with UE 4.26.

New NVIDIA Studio Laptops

With this announcement, the brand has also taken the opportunity to launch new laptops for the "Studio" line. All are for sale and come equipped with an NVIDIA RTX 30, as well as a high-quality screen that is up there with designers and creators. Specifically, 7 models have been launched :

GTC 2021 Announcement

Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, will present the GTC 2021, which will take place between April 12 and 16, 2021. It seems that NVIDIA would have news to present, among which could be the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti GPUs. However, nothing is confirmed and the whole event may revolve around the professional environment, as happened with the GTC 2020.

What do you think of this novelty?
