Microsoft and Nos sign partnership to accelerate 5G, cloud and IoT

Improving the way people live and work is one of the goals of Microsoft and Nos when signing a new partnership. The two organizations also aim to accelerate the digital transformation of companies and foster innovation in the telecommunications sector. In a statement, they point out three essential technologies - 5G, cloud, and IoT (Internet of Things) - which translate into three strategic axes.

All the strategic axes of the agreement signed today are based on the adoption of Microsoft technology. In the case of co-creation and shared innovation, Microsoft and Nos are committed to looking for opportunities that take advantage of 5G and to developing concrete solutions for areas such as Health, Industry, Retail, Logistics, or Public Administration.

In the field of cloud, there is a strategy under the motto Cloud First, through which solutions will be implemented that enhance the reduction of the companies' market time and that increase the efficiency of the operating models. Microsoft and Nos also hope to minimize the ecological footprint.

Finally, there is a third axis associated with integrated solutions for the B2B market, which includes the availability of Azure services or the implementation of services in Edge Computing, for example.

This is a strategic partnership that will significantly improve the services and solutions available in the national telecommunications market. Through betting on innovative technology and services, we jointly want to improve the way we live and work, today and in the future, contributing to a growing capacity and digital inclusion of the Portuguese Society », points out Paula Panarra, general director of Microsoft Portugal.

On the Nos side, the President of the Executive Committee underlines how the operator is committed to actively contribute to the digitization of Portugal and the successful implementation of the digital economy. "Through our technology and our knowledge, which are central elements in this transformation process, we want to make a difference in the lives of people, companies, and the country. The partnership today celebrated with Microsoft is another decisive step in this direction", says Miguel Almeida in a statement.
