HUAWEI Phoenix Engine Commercial: Mobile phone realizes ray tracing for the first time, running at full 1080P 60 frames

At the pollen annual meeting on January 23, Huawei's Phoenix engine appeared as one of the protagonists.

At the meeting, the staff of Netease Thunderfire Studio introduced the first commercial game "Tianyu" of Phoenix Engine, which is a large-scale mobile game of fantasy three-dimensional world produced by Netease.

It is reported that Phoenix Engine includes a cross-platform graphics layer (multi-API, multi-OS), GPU TurboX acceleration layer, rendering engine (hybrid pipeline), material engine, animation engine, physics engine, particle system, etc., and is open to the outside world through HMS Core Scene Kit, "Tianyu" is the first mobile game to eat crabs.

In terms of picture quality, the picture contrast is obvious after ray tracing is opened and closed, and the armor and weapon highlights are more realistic when opened. Although ray tracing occupies a lot of computing resources, with the joint optimization of Huawei and its partners, it is still smooth at 1080P 60FPS.

According to NetEase, it will continue to cooperate with Huawei in the future to explore more capabilities such as Phoenix engine dynamic rendering lighting, DLSS, and so on, to bring the real-time ray tracing the effect of the most advanced and top-level graphics card at the PC level to more mobile phone users.

There are also views that Huawei’s move may pave the way for self-developed GPUs.
