 CEC Rajiv Kumar-led Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to announce the complete schedule of Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Saturday. The election body will hold a press conference in New Delhi and will declare the crucial details about the upcoming general elections like dates, phases, announcement of results, etc.


EC to announce schedule at 3 pm

The Election Commission will be announcing the schedule of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls at 3 pm, kicking off a two-month-long electoral battle.

Lok Sabha Election Date 2024

According to the Indian Constitution, the Lok Sabha election will be held every five years. It will be the 18th Lok Sabha election, after the 2019 election, where Bharatiya Janata Party won the election and Mr. Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase Wise Schedule:
Following the past trends, the election dates are likely to be spread across multiple phases. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections, for instance, were conducted over seven phases from April 11 to May 19, with results announced on May 23.

Almost 970 million voters are eligible to participate in the upcoming elections across more than 1.2 million polling stations. The ruling BJP has set a target to secure 400 seats for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and 370 solely for the party, it's seen as a critical battle for the Opposition, united under the INDIA bloc in many states.

When is Election 2024 in India?

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 303 seats, while the Congress secured 52 seats, falling short of the numbers required to become the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. These elections were declared on March 10 and conducted over seven phases.
