Windows 10 21354 (Co_Release) as ISO and more is available for the Insider to download

A new insider preview can be tested now. Microsoft has made Windows 10 21354.1, more precisely 10.0.21354.1 available for download. As a language package, we already have the 22353 for the new substructure of Windows 10 22H1, but that is a different story.

In January 2021 (Windows 10 21286) Microsoft made the last ISO available. Now finally a current one follows. Once the Windows 10 Client Insider Preview - Build 21354, also as ARM64 version as VHDX. The Windows 10 Enterprise VL Insider Preview - Build 21354, as well as the Windows Language Pack Insider Preview - 21354. The downloads are a little further down.

Let's get to the changes in this version.

The main changes:

  • [Messages and Interests] As already mentioned, we have activated the option in the “Messages and Interests” taskbar to deselect the “Open on hover” option. This is based on your feedback.
  • The default path for accessing Linux files from Windows using the Windows Subsystem for Linux has been changed from wsl to wsl.localhost to improve performance and reliability. Linux files can still be accessed via `\\ wsl $ \\`.
  • Under Settings> Update & Security> Change active hours you will find the switch for "Automatically adjust active hours for this device based on activity" if you have never set this function. We're starting by rolling out a change to Insiders that will enable this setting by default. When this setting is enabled, Windows Update is able to more accurately schedule automatic restarts when you are not normally using your device.
  • Starting with the latest versions of Microsoft Edge, all pinned websites (regardless of which version you were using when you pinned them) should now use the taskbar behavior described here without having to unpin and re-pin the website first.
  • On ARM64 devices, you can now toggle the compatibility settings for x64 applications.
  • Under Settings> Personalization> Device usage, you can select all ways of using your device for customized suggestions for tips, tools and services.

Known issues in Windows 10 21354

  • We are investigating reports that the update process hangs for an extended period of time when trying to install a new build.
  • [News and Interests] If you press the ESC key to close an open context menu in the flyout, the entire flyout will be closed instead.
  • [Messages and Interests] Sometimes you cannot use the stylus to exit the Messages and Interests flyout.
  • [ARM64] Insiders who have installed the preview version of the Qualcomm Adreno graphics driver on the Surface Pro X may experience a reduced display brightness. This problem is resolved with an updated version of the preview graphics driver at https://aka.ms/x64previewdriverprox If you encounter this problem, please refer to the feedback collection for more information.
  • We're investigating an issue where search items (including the search box in File Explorer) no longer display correctly in the dark theme.
  • We are working on a fix for an issue affecting WSUS users where the “Check for updates online from Microsoft Update” option is grayed out. If this affects you, you can run the following command from an advanced command prompt to set the registry key so that the scan checks the Microsoft servers:
  • reg add "HKLM \ Software \ Microsoft \ WindowsUpdate \ UX \ Settings" / f / v ScanMicrosoftOnly / t REG_DWORD / d 0x01 Then
  • click in the Windows update settings on the regular button "Check for updates". Please note that if the scan needs to be performed repeatedly, the registry key will need to be added each time as the scan reads and deletes the key.
  • Due to a problem migrating the shortcuts to the new Windows Tools location, this PC is displayed with a display name of “Computer”. We have already launched a fix for this issue.
  • Some non-administrative apps, such as B. 3D Viewer and Print 3D, which were previously in the Windows Accessories folder, are now in Windows Tools. These app shortcuts will be moved back to Start with an upcoming fix. In the meantime, they can still be found and accessed using Windows tools.
  • The Windows camera app currently does not respect the default brightness setting that was set via the new Camera Settings page.
  • Some cameras currently do not support adjustment in the camera settings app if the camera is also used by another app.
  • Access to the virtual GPU is incorrect for Windows and Linux guests. Adding a vGPU to a VM has no effect and the VM continues to run with software rendering.
