Microsoft Edge: Web widget now with multiple layouts

The insiders have the news and the weather in the system tray. But the Edge team is also working on integrating both as web widgets in the browser.

The function as A / B test (controlled rollout) has now been added to the settings in the Edge Canary. In the meantime, work has also continued on the layout. So now you have not only the "vertical layout" and the "dashboard layout" available, but also the "layout only".

The latter displays a search bar that we know from the PowerToys with PowerToys Run. The widget can be started with Windows and it is then minimized in the systray of the taskbar. In the settings, you then have the option of activating the "floating button". An Edge icon is then displayed on the right, which is also displayed when the icons are hidden on the desktop.

The search field can be placed wherever you want on the desktop. The search then always starts there and regardless of whether the browser is open, minimized, or closed.

Anyone interested in the web widget can activate it. Otherwise, it will be dormant in the settings and not bother you with the news and the weather.
