Microsoft Edge 91.0.838.3 in the dev channel again with new functions

Last night Microsoft updated Microsoft Edge in the dev channel. In addition, a discussion has started in which Microsoft would like to know from you why the Edge is sometimes displayed in a different language.

The login and synchronization under Linux introduced last week is now activated by default. The Define function has now been released in the PDF mini menu. We reported about it here. The other new functions:

  • Added the ability to open the Favorites, History, etc. download pages by clicking on the Favorites, History, etc. name at the top of their respective pop-up menus.
  • A setting has been added to control whether sleeping tabs appear faded or not.
  • A notification has been added to switch profiles when a webpage or PWA is installed in a browser profile and you try to reinstall the same in a different profile. Note that this has been rolled out in the past few weeks and is now enabled by default.
  • A management policy has been added to control whether Application Guard Traffic Identification is enabled, which controls whether Application Guard windows send additional headers to identify web pages as being displayed in an Application Guard window.

Fixed issues:

  • Fixed a crash on startup that occurs when Edge has allowed websites to send desktop notifications.
  • Fixed an issue on Mac where Kids Mode would sometimes crash on startup.
  • Fixed an issue where videos would sometimes not play on Netflix with error D7353.
  • Fixed an issue where copying text from information-protected PDFs resulted in a crash.
  • A browser crash when entering child mode has been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue where clicking the… menu in PWAs or websites installed as apps would crash the browser.
  • Fixed an issue where the Web Widget would not load and only display the message “Something went wrong”.
  • Fixed an issue where the web widget would sometimes not open if the Edge wasn't already open.
  • Fixed an issue where the browser used too much memory the longer it was open.
  • Other issues resolved: techcommunity

Known problems:

  • Nothing has changed here compared to the previous versions. But they are not serious errors either, or are due to old installed software.
  • Certain extensions, such as B. the Microsoft Editor extension do not work on Linux. Once installed, they will crash and be disabled. We are currently investigating this.
  • Users of certain ad blocker extensions may experience playback errors on Youtube. As a workaround, temporarily disabling the extension should allow playback.
  • Some users still experience an issue where all tabs and extensions immediately crash with a STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH error. The most common cause of this error is out of date security or antivirus software
  • For users of Kaspersky Internet Suite who have installed the associated extension, websites such as Gmail may sometimes not load. This error occurs because the main Kaspersky software is out of date
  • The deduplication in the Edge Stable should always be given a little more time. Otherwise, favorites are displayed twice.
  • Some users see a "wobble" when scrolling with trackpad gestures or touchscreens, with scrolling in one dimension also causing the page to scroll slightly back and forth in the other dimension. This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring the scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy's behavior. So if this behavior is undesirable, you can turn it off temporarily by turning off the edge: // flags / # edge-experimental-scrolling flag.
