KB5001335 / KB5001392 Windows 7 April 2021 Patchday ESU v9 and v11 Still Work

Microsoft has also made the April updates KB5001335 (Monthly Rollup) and KB5001392 (Security-only update) available for download for Windows 7. There is no new SSU this month.

The ESU patch v9 or v11 can still be used without problems, even if we are now in the second year of the ESU patches.

Known problems:

  • After installing this update and restarting the device, you may receive the error message “Failure to configure Windows updates. Changes will be undone. Do not turn off your computer, ”and the update may show up as Failed in the update history. This error message appears if the device was not prepared for the ESU updates.
  • Certain operations, such as For example, renaming files or folders that are located on a Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) may fail with the error "STATUS_BAD_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL (0xC00000A5)". This occurs when you are performing the operation on a CSV owner node from a process that does not have administrative privileges.
