Resident Evil Village will support Ray Tracing and FidelityFX in RDNA and RDNA 2

The Resident Evil 8 release is set for May 7, 2021 and will come with 2 major new features: AMD FidelityFX and native Ray Tracing for RDNA 2. The main beneficiaries will be the RX 6000, although we may see the RX 6700 or even the RX 6600 on the market at that time.

AMD and Capcom have worked together in the graphics world of Resident Evil Village, as the Japanese developer has used the AMD FidelityFX suite of tools to offer high image quality with optimized performance. Logically, the beneficiaries of this would be the RDNA and RDNA 2 architectures, and within the latter are the PS5 and Xbox Series.

Resident Evil 8, with native Ray Tracing support for the RX 6000

It seems that AMD and NVIDIA will fight to attract developers who want to use their rendering toolkits and thus benefit the RTX 3000 or RX 6000. In this case, AMD has worked with Capcom to provide native Ray Tracing support in its next Resident Evil.

AMD FidelityFX promises superb image quality that is optimized with RDNA (RX 5000) and RDNA 2 (RX 6000 and consoles)architectures. This would benefit the AMD Radeon in terms of FPS, like the RX 6000 in Ray Tracing. Until now, NVIDIA was the only one that had native RTX in several games, so AMD is starting to win customers.

This means that Capcom has used the FidelityFX Denoiser, the SSSR and the FidelityFX ambient occlusion in order to give Resident Evil a lighting and realism at the level of the saga. Furthermore, Capcom has used an AMD algorithm based on Ray Tracing to perform faster calculations and obtain better lighting in the famous zombie game.

Who will benefit from this procedure? Mainly, the RDNA 2 architecture, since it is the first generation of Radeon with Ray Tracing; That being said, the RX 5000 will also benefit from AMD FidelityFX. On the other hand, there are the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, which come with RDNA 2 GPUs, so they will also offer good performance. Likewise, the game will be released for the PlayStation 4.

At the moment, there are only trailers about the game, but Capcom emphasized that it will be a "very real" eighth part, that is, a complete sequel.

What do you think of this news? Will AMD start to gain ground in Ray Tracing?
