Market statistics show that Nvidia will have a bumper harvest in the market in 2020 Q4. Intel's supply chain shows its power

According to Wccftech reports, Jon Peddie Research (JPR) recently released the GPU market data statistics report for the fourth quarter of 2020. Its data shows that although the continuing shortage has affected all new products released since the beginning of 2020, compared with AMD, Nvidia can still supply more GPUs.

From the overall market perspective, global GPU shipments in the fourth quarter of 2020 increased by 20.5%, an increase of 12.4% year-on-year. It is estimated that during 2020-2025, the installed capacity of GPU will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 3.7%, reaching a total of 419 million by the end of 2025. In the next 5 years, the penetration rate of discrete graphics cards in PCs will increase to 21%.

AMD's overall market share fell by 2.2% from the previous quarter, Intel's market share increased by 6.6%, and Nvidia fell by 4.37%. Overall GPU shipments increased by 20.5% from the previous quarter, AMD shipments increased by 6.4%, Intel shipments increased by 33.2%, and NVIDIA shipments decreased by 7.3%. This shows that Intel’s stable supply chain has played an important role.

The overall installed rate of GPUs and PCs (including integrated and independent displays, desktops, notebooks, and workstations) this quarter was 113%, a decrease of 9.2% from the previous quarter. The entire PC market grew by 30.25% month-on-month and 35.76% year-on-year. The use of discrete graphics on desktops decreased by 3.9% from the previous quarter. Tablet PC shipments in the fourth quarter of 2020 increased compared to the previous quarter.

From the perspective of the discrete graphics market, Nvidia has increased its market share by 2% and currently accounts for 82% of the discrete graphics market, while AMD is 18%. Compared with the data of 73% of Nvidia and 27% of AMD last year, Nvidia has substantial growth. It is worth noting that Nvidia has not only released high-end GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs but also introduced more models close to the mainstream market at the beginning of this year, which will help further increase market share and achieve better performance.

In the fourth quarter of each year, it is generally flat or slightly increased, but it was in a growth trend last year. At present, most semiconductor manufacturers increase their shipments for the next quarter, with an average rate of 1.25%. In addition to seasonal factors, the impact of the new crown epidemic is also one of the factors.
