Lupita Nyong'o and Natalie Portman to star in Apple TV Plus's 'Lady in the Lake'

Apple TV Plus plans to produce an adaptation of Laura Lipman's novel, "Lady in the Lake." The show will star Oscar winners Lupita Nyong'o and Natalie Portman, while Alma Harel will direct the platform's upcoming limited series.

The news was announced by the service itself, through a formal statement. Harel will collaborate with Dre Ryen, the writer for the Amazon production, "The Man In The High Castle."

'Lady in the Lake' centers on a story that takes place in 1960s Baltimore, where an unsolved murder leads a mother and housewife played by Portman to reinvent her entire life as an investigative journalist, setting her up to take charge of this.

She encounters the character of Nyong'o, a hardworking woman who juggles motherhood, her responsibilities, and her passionate commitment to carrying out her progressive African-American agenda in Baltimore.

Portman and Nyong'o will not only star in but will also executive produce on the series, working alongside Portman's producing partner Sophie Mas. Harel joins them in executive production alongside Christopher Leggett, through his new production company Zusa.

To be sure, Apple TV Plus continues to prove that they are not a competitor to put aside. Little by little, the streaming giant's platform closes high-level deals with important figures such as Portman and Nyong'o, and even Martin Scorsese.

As for a production or shooting date, Apple TV Plus has not released any formal information. Much less do we know what his intentions are for the launch, but everything leads us to believe that it will be one of the relevant proposals of the platform for next year.
