Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor said on Sunday that the government will provide one crore more LPG gas connections to the needy in the next two years. He said that the Ujjwala scheme will be expanded and one crore people will be brought under this ambit.

People living below the poverty line are given a connection of domestic cooking gas (LPG Gas) under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala (PMUY) scheme. A large number of women have benefited from this scheme so far. The government provides financial assistance of Rs 1,600 to every family living below the poverty line (BPL) under PM Ujjwala Yojana. With this amount, you can take an LPG gas connection. Along with this, the EMI facility can also be provided to cover the expenses incurred in buying the stove and filling LPG cylinders for the first time.

LPG subscribers reach 29 crore

In an interview with the news agency PTI, Petroleum Secretary Kapoor said that in just four years, a record eight crore free LPG connections were given in the homes of poor women, which increased the number of LPG consumers in the country to nearly 29 crores. She said that the government is working day and night to get rid of domestic pollution in rural areas and improve the health of women. He points out that consumers will soon have the option of getting a refill cylinder from three dealers in their neighborhood instead of being tied to only one distributor.

How to apply

Under the Ujjwala scheme, any woman from the BPL family can apply to get a gas connection. For this, filling the KYC form will have to be submitted to the Nanjadi LPG Center. While applying, you have to tell whether you want a cylinder of 14.2 kg or five kg. You can download the form of the Ujjwala scheme from the website of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme or it will also be available from the LPG center. To take advantage of this scheme, documents like BPL card, Ration card, Aadhar card, Voter ID, Passport size photo, Ration card, Bank statement are required.
