Apple announces WWDC 2021 - the future of macOS, iOS and Co.

Apple has finally announced one of the most important events of the year - at a slightly later time than usual because Apple usually sends out the invitations between the end of February and mid-March. Accordingly, the World Wide Developers Conference will take place in the usual period - from June 7th to 11th. Again Apple decided on an online format because the development of the corona pandemic still does not allow more than 1000 visitors to be squeezed into one lecture hall. The event will therefore be opened again with a pre-produced video that deals with the most important topics of the evening. At the same time, Apple offers numerous sessions for developers, also designed as online events. This marks the anniversary of Apple's conversion to a purely online format, WWDC 2020 made the start. After speculating at the time whether there could be a developer conference at all, 2020 was the first of four events of this kind.

The WWDC graphic 2021

As with every Apple event, there is again a graphic leitmotif, which can be seen in the invitations and on the information pages. This time it is a developer whose iron-on glasses reflect the date of the event. Those who love speculation are of course thinking directly of the rumored AR glasses - but their announcement is unlikely at this point in time. Incidentally, the scene reflects exactly how Craig Federighi looked into his new notebook when the M1 Macs were announced.

Expected topics of WWDC 2021

Since Apple has been driving a strict annual cycle for a long time, we are already familiar with some of the topics of WWDC 2021. The presentation of macOS 12, iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15 and watchOS 8 is considered safe. Whether there is hardware to marvel at is exciting every year. This time Apple could use the event to offer a first look at Macs in the even higher performance league. We were not only talking about the MacBook Pro 16 ", which supposedly will receive Apple's own processors this summer, but also an iMac 30". It will take a lot more time before the Mac Pro with Apple Silicon is presented. Market watchers do not expect a corresponding announcement before November.
