Paramount Plus Transforms and Will Offer a Wave of Exclusive Series and Films, Including 'No Time to Die'

Paramount Plus will transform to compete with Netflix and Disney Plus by offering exclusive series and movies, including the new James Bond film.

Paramount Plus is gearing up for a global expansion starting next month and will do so with a surge of content to compete with Disney +, Netflix, and other streaming video services. Starting March 4, CBS All-Access will transform into Paramount Plus and will be relaunched in multiple countries.

This change will offer a rich catalog of 2,500 films and more than 30,000 episodes of TV series from channels such as Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Showtime, MTV, and more. In addition to that, Paramount Plus will produce original content to position the service as an attractive option.

In a call with shareholders to discuss its latest quarter financial results, ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish promised 36 original series to premiere in 2021.

Among the content is The Offer, a drama that focuses on behind the scenes of The Godfather; Lioness, a 24- style spy series, a spinoff of the Girlfriends, and a docuseries called The Real Criminal Minds.

A live-action Dora the Explorer series and the animated series Star Trek Prodigy are planned for children, premiering exclusively on Paramount Plus.

Perhaps the most important thing has to do with the movies. In addition to the catalog of 2,500 already on the platform, Paramount Plus will debut selected films 30 or 45 days after their release in theaters. Among them are Mission Impossible 7 and A Quiet Place 2, dated to hit theaters in September 2021.

Paramount and MGM close an agreement and 'No Time to Die' will come to Paramount Plus

MGM and Paramount have signed an agreement so the MGM catalog will also be available on Paramount Plus. That includes No Time to Die, the upcoming James Bond movie, Creed III, and House of Gucci. The films will arrive on the service 90 days after their premiere since during the first three months they will be screened exclusively on Epix, the pay-TV service available in the United States.

ViacomCBS also plans to produce original films. According to THR, a new Paranormal Activity is on the horizon, Animal Graveyard: The Origin - based on Stephen King's Pet Sematary - and The In-Between, a supernatural thriller written and directed by Marc Klein.

Paramount Plus will replace CBS-All Access in the United States and will begin a worldwide rollout from March 4 in the US, Canada, and Latin America. Currently, the service is available in Mexico and Brazil thanks to an agreement with Claro Video. It is unknown if the cost of the 79-peso membership will remain the same or will increase in price with the arrival of more content.

The service does not have a defined date in Spain. Only the Nordic countries will have access on March 25, while Australia will do the same in the middle of the year.
