Microsoft announces two versions of Office for Windows and Mac by the end of 2021


Microsoft announced on Thursday (18), two new versions of Office to be released later this year, one for finals and another for commercial consumers, the Office LTSC.

The company has yet to reveal more details about the features and changes to the program compared to traditional software, but what is known so far is that the LTSC version will have support for dark mode, accessibility improvements and features such as automatic calculation Dynamic Arrays and the search for XLOOKUP values ​​in Excel.

News in the Office 2021 interface should not be expected, in addition to the dark mode, with Microsoft focusing more on cloud services also for individuals within Microsoft 365, as the company recognized that customers' interest in working on their documents in online mode it doesn't just come from companies.

"We certainly have a lot of consumers who have moved to the cloud over the past 10 months, it happened en masse. At the same time, we definitely have consumers who have specific scenarios and who don’t believe they can move to the cloud," says Jared Spataro, head of Microsoft 365, in an interview with The Verge.

Now, instead of seven years, Office LTSC will be supported for five years; and the company will also increase the value of the packages for commercial use. For the individual consumer and small businesses, the price should not change.

Office 2021 is expected to arrive later this year for both Windows and macOS.
