Helena Bonham Carter joins BBC comedy 'The Cleaner'

The BBC plans a new production, this time in the comedy genre, entitled 'The Cleaner'. Sources say 'The Crown' alum Helena Bonham Carter will join the cast to star alongside Greg Davies.

'The Cleaner' will be a British adaptation of the German comedy series 'Der Tatortreiniger' - which means 'crime scene cleaner' - which was created by Ingrid Lausund. On this occasion, Davies himself was in charge of writing the script that will give life to the plot.

In the story we will meet Paul “Wicky” Wickstead, a cleaning technician certified by the very state to clean crime scenes. That is, you must take care of erasing any signs of death.

The German version of this same plot ran for seven years, from 2011 to 2018, however, it is unknown whether the BBC is interested in making its production long-standing or a little more concise.

The truth is, we believe that everything will depend on the results they receive with the first season, which, so far, it is not known exactly if it will become part of Netflix projects, but we would not be surprised if it were.

The cast of 'The Cleaner' also includes David Mitchell, Stephanie Cole, Donald Sumpter, Shobu Kapoor, Ruth Madeley, Layton Williams, Zita Sattar, Georgie Glen, Bill Skinner and Esmonde Cole.

The series was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, who is the content director for the BBC, and Shane Allen, the controller in charge of BBC Comedy. It will be produced by Studio Hamburg UK, which will feature Vivien Muller-Rommel as executive producer and Sam Ward as a producer.

For his part, Tom Marshall will be the director is Tom Marshall, while Tracey Gillham will direct the casting. BBC Studios will handle worldwide distribution, including Germany.
