Diablo IV Details: Enemy Camps, PvP, and Equippable Mounts

The Diablo IV dev team shared new game details and revealed the Rogue at BlizzConline 2021. According to Blizzard Entertainment staff, the open world will provide ample exploration, and players will be able to ride mounts from Skosglen to the Shattered Peaks.

Mounts include different horse breeds and other vehicles that you can find all over the world by solving puzzles, finding hidden places, or even killing certain types of monsters. You can also equip your horse with armor and trophies. Diablo IV will have many ways to personalize your animal so that you see it as your companion.

Animals can also participate in some activities besides locomotion. For example, a robber has a technique in which she jumps into the air from a horse and releases a rain of arrows at opponents. It is noteworthy that your animal cannot take damage, but if you are attacked on horseback, it will force you to dismount and join the battle.

Another aspect of the open world is camping. All kinds of monsters and bandits are waiting for you in them, the only goal of which is to seize territory. You will wander through the conquered areas and return them to the people of Sanctuary. Each camp will have its own history and a unique fixed location in the world.

The liberation of territory affects the world. As soon as you defeated the villains in it, a new waypoint is created in this place, which was not there before, and shops and a blacksmith's shop will open. Thanks to this, new quests may appear and new stories told. Subsequently, in some of the former camps, entrances to dungeons appear.

Blizzard Entertainment also relies on PvP in Diablo IV. In the open world of the game, there are special areas called Fields of Hatred that are available to everyone. It is in them that you can fight with other users. Shards of Hate can be obtained in PvP areas, but they are given not only for killing other players but also monsters, as well as when interacting with the environment.

The shards are mined in an unrefined state and will need to be delivered to the Purification Event. They will then turn into a currency that can be used in camps near the Fields of Hate to buy armor, trophies, and other items. However, the process of clearing the shards is dangerous: as soon as you start it, other players will receive a notification about this, and they will try to attack you and take the resource before the ritual ends. After cleaning, it is no longer possible to pick up the fragments.

If you fight too much with the players, you will turn into a Vessel of Hatred - everyone will see you on the map as a threat. They will receive a bonus for your kill. You will need to survive for a certain time and escape or defeat those who try to destroy you. If you succeed, you will receive a very large bonus at the end.

According to Blizzard Entertainment, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what awaits players in Diablo IV.

Diablo IV will be released on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
