'Bridgerton': Simone Ashley, from 'Sex Education', is chosen as the protagonist of the new season

“Bridgerton” was a pleasant surprise from Netflix. The series was so successful that, shortly after its debut, it won a second season. The new year of the show should feature a new protagonist, who has just been chosen.

Simone Ashley (“Sex Education” and “Detective Pikachu“) has been cast to take on the role of Kate Sharma, a New London resident who is described as an “intelligent, obstinate young woman who cannot tolerate idiots - Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) is included".

As with the first season, the second part of “Bridgerton” will adapt a book by author Julia Quinn, the one chosen this time was the second volume of the saga “Os Bridgertons”, entitled “The Viscount who loved me”, in which Kate gets involved with Anthony, the eldest of the brothers who give the saga a name.

"We have a lot of new characters to present," said Chris Van Duse, creator of the series, during the announcement of the new season. "Anthony is going to have a love interest, and I think it will be just as breathtaking, moving, and beautiful as what was seen in the first season," he adds.

While details about the new characters are revealed, fans hope to find out if Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page, stars of the first season, will return for the second year of production. However, there is still no confirmation.

The official synopsis of the first season says: “Created by Chris Van Dusen of producer Shondaland, Brisgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, in their attempt to arrange a wedding - while hoping to continue your parents' footsteps and find true love. However, when her older brother begins to discard all the girl's suitors, the mysterious Lady Whistledown begins to spread gossip about Daphne in high society. ”

The first season of “Bridgerton” stars Phoebe Dynevor (“Snatch: A New Strike”), Regé-Jean Page (“Deadly Machines”), Jonathan Bailey (“Chewing Gum”), Nicola Coughlan (“Harlots”), Claudia Jessie (“Vanity Fair”), Ruby Barker (“Wolfblood: Wolf Family”), Golda Rosheuvel (“Lady Macbeth”), Luke Thompson (“Misbehavior”), Luke Newton (“Panic on the Lake: The Legacy”), Ruth Gemmell (“A Good Man”), Polly Walker (“Rome”) and Julie Andrews (“The Rebel Novice).

As mentioned, the first season can be watched full on Netflix. There is still no premiere date for the sequel.
