Xiaomi is preparing a smartphone on the not yet presented 5G processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 775G

Today, enthusiasts exploring the MIUI firmware code have found references to the yet to be announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Series 5G chipset. The chip has a model number SM7350, which suggests that we are talking about the Snapdragon 775G, which will be the successor to the very successful and popular Snapdragon 765G.

The fact that the mention of the new chip is found in the MIUI code indicates that Xiaomi is developing a smartphone-based on this chipset. It is likely that one of the phones in the Redmi K40 series will be based on the Snapdragon 775G. It is worth noting that the authoritative insider Roland Quandt announced that the new processor will be codenamed Cedros and will be produced according to Samsung's 6nm process technology. It is reported that the chipset will receive support for LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 drives.

The prototype of the new platform scored about 530 thousand points in AnTuTu. Of course, this is noticeably lower than even last year's flagship Snapdragon 865 chip, which scores well over 600 thousand points. Nevertheless, progress compared to the Snapdragon 765G is evident: the Redmi K30 based on it scores a little over 300 thousand points. The launch date for the Snapdragon 775G is still unknown, however, it is likely to be unveiled in the near future.
