The premiere of "Godzilla vs. Kong" was postponed two months earlier - the film will be released in March

While most blockbusters are postponed due to the pandemic in anticipation of an improvement in the situation in the world, Warner Bros. took an unusual step. The company decided to postpone the premiere of Godzilla vs. Kong two months earlier than expected.

The clash of legendary monsters will take place on March 26, not May 21. The film will be released simultaneously in theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service. The exact date of the premiere in Russia is still unknown.

Legendary Entertainment, the production company for Godzilla v. Kong, recently launched a public action with Warner Bros., threatening to sue over the company's decision to release all of its 2021 films on HBO Max on the same day as theaters.

Legendary was disappointed in part because Warner Bros. previously turned down an offer from Netflix to sell the movie for $ 250 million. However, the two companies reportedly managed to come to a compromise that satisfied both parties.

The production of Godzilla v. Kong cost about $ 160 million. Asian countries can be a big help with movie rentals, as monster movies tend to be popular there. What's more, HBO Max is only available in the US, so international audiences will only be able to watch the movie in theaters.
