Six-core Intel Core i5-11500 first spotted in Geekbench database

In the Geekbench synthetic test database, the six-core and twelve-thread Intel Core i5-11500 processor was first lit up. The chip belongs to the yet unreleased 11th series of Rocket Lake-S processors, whose release is expected in March this year.

According to Geekbench, the base frequency of the Core i5-11500 is 2.7 GHz, and in auto overclocking mode, it rises to 4.6 GHz. The chip was tested on a debug motherboard. Unfortunately, the test data does not contain information about the motherboard's developer and on which chipset (Z490 or Z590) it is built on.

Curiously, in the Geekbench single-core test, the performance of the presented Core i5-11500 turned out to be higher than that of one of the engineering samples of the Core i7-11700K. The youngest model showed a result of 1,588 points, which is also 35% higher than its predecessor, the Core i5-10500, which belongs to the current 10-series Comet Lake-S.

But in terms of multi-core performance, the new Intel product has not yet shown anything outstanding. Having scored 7265 points, the blue processor, although it bypassed its predecessor, lost to the six-core AMD Ryzen 5 5600X model.

It is assumed that the Core i5-11500 will become one of the slowest processors on the Cypress Cove architecture, since the models below (some Core i5, Core i3, as well as the new Pentium and Celeron) will belong to Comet Lake Refresh - updated chips of the previous generation.
