Canceled GoldenEye 007 Xbox Remastered Walkthrough Appears Online

Once upon a time studio, Rare developed a remaster of the adventure shooter GoldenEye 007 for the Xbox, but in the end, the project was canceled due to problems with the rights to the James Bond franchise. However, now, after so many years, footage of the game has appeared on the Web. And maybe a working build of the shooter will be published soon.

In 2002, Microsoft acquired Rare Studio. Back then, the developer was expected to bring many of its older Nintendo games to the Xbox. Gradually, Rare has released updated versions of them, many of which are now available in the Rare Replay compilation: Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S owners can play Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark right now through backward compatibility.

One of the most famous Rare games of the Nintendo era was GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64. It helped popularize multiplayer first-person shooters on consoles. To date, the project has not been re-released on any platform, and the only way to play it is on a Nintendo 64 or emulator.

Although the remaster never saw the light of day, the game ultimately received a full-fledged remake on Wii of the same name in 2010. This version, developed by Eurocom and published by Activision, received an HD port on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011 in the form of GoldenEye 007: Reloaded.

Over the past few months, there have been rumors circulating on the web about a working build of GoldenEye 007 for the Xbox. They turned out to be true. YouTube user Graslu00 posted on his channel a video over two hours long showing the game progress and several multiplayer maps in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (it was launched through an emulator).

According to Graslu00, a working build will be uploaded publicly this year.
