Apple launches limited edition Apple Watch Series 6 to celebrate Black History Month

On the 26th, in celebration of Black History Month, Apple unveiled a limited edition Apple Watch Series 6, a sports band, and a watch face. In addition, new content has been updated that highlights black creators, artists, developers, and businesses.

The Apple Watch Series 6 limited edition released this time is the same as space gray aluminum model, but the word ``Black Unity'' is engraved with a laser in the upper right corner of the circle surrounding the heart rate sensor on the back.

It also includes a new Black Unity Sport Band, a fluoro rubber material that is hand-assembled and compressed into one. The band is laser-engraved with the phrase "Truth. Power. Solidarity" and is made of black, red, and green to pay homage to the Pan-African flag. You can also use the Black Unity Watch Face, which creates a dynamically constantly changing pattern as the Apple Watch moves.

Finally, you'll get an exclusive badge called the new Unity Activity Challenge. Awarded for achieving the Move Ring for 7 consecutive days in February, Black History Month.

In addition to the Apple Watch Black Unity collection, Apple has added content that celebrates Black History Month to the entire product line.

The App Store has created a hub for Black History Month that highlights black-owned businesses, developers, entertainment and gaming apps, and apps for social justice. Apple Music has a one-month campaign featuring playlists, essays, and original videos made up of works by black influencers, musicians, writers, and directors.

The Apple TV app added an 'Essential Story' theme that celebrates the black family in movies and TV shows. There is also an Oprah conversation episode featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and writer Isabel Wilkerson and her book, Hereditary Status: Origins of Dissatisfaction.

Apple News+ adds a Spotlight collection featuring audio articles commemorating the black experience, while Apple Books, Fitness+, and Podcasts will highlight black artists, writers, and creators.

The Black Unity Apple Watch collection launches February 1st via apple.com, starts at $399, and is available exclusively in February. The $50 Black Unity Band will continue to sell. The Unity Watch Face is added in WatchOS 7.3 and requires iPhone 6s or higher and iOS 14.4 or higher.
