AMD Ranks Among TSMC's Second Largest Customers This Year, 7nm Process Demand Soars

On CES 2021, AMD launched the Ryzen 5000 series of mobile processors, in addition to the EPYC processor code-named Milan, both of which use 7nm process technology. With the hot sales of AMD- related products, AMD is increasing 7nm orders, and its importance in TSMC is also increasing.

It is reported that AMD may become TSMC's second-largest customer in 2021. Apple still occupies a core position in 5nm and 3nm under development, but AMD will surpass Apple in the 7nm process, and the Zen3 family product line will continue to ship in 2021.

Take the Ryzen 5000 series processors as an example. Starting from the first quarter of 2021, PC manufacturers such as Lenovo, HP and Asus will successively launch notebook computers equipped with Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors. AMD expects that there will be more than 150 consumer and commercial laptops equipped with Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors throughout 2021.
