180 degree turnaround: Microsoft canceled the price hike for Xbox Live Gold and made multiplayer free in F2P games

Microsoft announced a price increase for the Xbox Live Gold subscription, but users were not at all happy about this and threw angry messages on Xbox pages on social networks. In this regard, Redmond admitted:  "We screwed up and you were right." The price hike is canceled, and what's more, shareware games no longer require an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

As the Xbox Live Gold team said in an updated post, “We screwed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of the gaming industry and we have fallen short of the expectations of players who count on it every day. As a result, we decided not to change the price of the subscription Gold Live the Xbox".

Pricing in the US is back at $ 9.99 for 1 month, $ 24.99 for 3 months, $ 39.99 for 6 months, and $ 59.99 for 12 months of Xbox Live Gold.

In addition, Microsoft has responded to criticism that you have to pay to access multiplayer in shareware games. Shareware projects no longer require an active Xbox Live Gold subscription on Xbox consoles. This applies to Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, Smite and many other games.
