Galax (KFA2) has expanded its range of GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 graphics accelerators with Classic models. Their feature is the cooling system using a tangential fan. Earlier models of ASUS Turbo, Gigabyte Turbo, and MSI Aero were presented in a similar version.
Externally, both new Galax products are almost identical, except for the size. In addition, the older model has an NVLink interface, which allows combining the computing power of two GeForce RTX 3090s.
The declared dimensions of the Galax GeForce RTX 3090 Classic are 309 × 128 × 42 mm, while the Galax GeForce RTX 3080 Classic is 295 × 110 × 41 mm. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not go into the details of the video card cooling system, so the dimensions of the evaporation chambers used in them are unknown. It is only known that the radiators of both models are completely made of copper.
Each of the new products is equipped with two 8-pin connectors for additional power supply. Since Galax cards use non-standard printed circuit boards, the connectors themselves are located in more convenient places of their use - in the back of the graphics accelerators. For the flagship of the series, the manufacturer claims a power consumption level of 350 W, for a younger model - 320 W.
The characteristics also indicate that the cooling systems do not have the function of a complete stop of the fan, so the owner of these graphic solutions will have to listen to the booming clink of the "turbine" constantly. Galax does not report anything about the technical characteristics of new products. They probably do not differ from the reference values.
